Life has a way of testing us. At times, it can feel as though everything on the outside is collapsing – work struggles, health challenges, strained relationships – and yet, deep down, something within us keeps urging us to hold on. That “something” is faith. It is the quiet but unshakable foundation that sustains the inner person, even when the outer world seems to be crumbling.
The apostle Paul expressed this when he wrote: “Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.” (2 Corinthians 4:16)
This reminder from the apostle Paul shows us that no matter how fragile our physical or emotional state might be, the spirit can still grow stronger – if we choose to nurture it.
The truth is, none of us are immune to failure or flaws. The flesh – our natural human desires – often rebels against the will of God (Romans 8:7). But this doesn’t mean we are left helpless.
On the contrary, God provides us with tools to renew and fortify our spirit. Confession, repentance, prayer, and fasting are spiritual disciplines that help us to stand back up when we’ve stumbled and to begin again with fresh determination.
It’s easy to feel discouraged when we fall short. But in God’s hands, weakness is not defeat; it’s a chance to grow. Every time we choose to rise again, to obey rather than give in, we mature in faith. That’s what practical faith is all about – not emotions or fleeting feelings, but action, resilience, and trust in God’s Word.
Instead of letting guilt or self-accusation weigh you down, remember: God has already placed within you the tools to keep moving forward. With faith, what looks like weakness can become strength, and what feels like a stumbling block can turn into a stepping stone.
If you’ve been feeling weary or far from God, don’t give up. You are not alone in this battle, and you don’t need to rely on your own strength. God is always ready to renew your spirit, day by day, just as He promised.
Maybe you know someone who has drifted from their faith and feels too weak to return. Share this message with them – it could be the encouragement they need to take that first step back into God’s presence. Perhaps you’re just starting out on your own journey of faith. Whatever the case, the question remains: Do you want to strengthen your spirit?
You are warmly invited to join us this Sunday at 10am for the Empowerment Meeting at a Universal Church near you. It’s a moment set aside to seek God together, renew inner strength, and discover how faith can transform even the hardest of battles into victories.
