How to Become a Blessing Like Abraham

News 2
Many people see God as a magician—someone who will instantly fix all their problems if they just ask. “God, I have this problem and that problem; please make them go away!” But that’s not how God works. He doesn’t perform magic. God works through His Word.

His Word teaches, guides, corrects, and points us in the right direction.

Take Abraham, for example. Before God promised him blessings, He gave him clear instructions: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.” (Genesis 12:1-2).

Abraham had to give up comfort, security, and his own plans. Although he was wealthy, he was frustrated—he had no children and didn’t know who would inherit his wealth. For more than thirty years, he carried that disappointment.

God saw his anguish and heard his prayers, but He didn’t just make things happen instantly. Instead, He asked Abraham to obey, to step out in faith and follow His Word. Abraham obeyed, sacrificed his will, and in doing so, he became a blessing himself. That’s how God works: not with magic, but with His Word.

Obeying God isn’t always easy. Serving someone you cannot see requires faith and patience. Many people struggle, unable to fully submit to His Word. But those who do will become the blessing.

God made Abraham not the father of one child, but the father of many nations. God sees your struggles too and wants to do great things in your life. But the question is: are you willing to obey His Word and trust Him, just like Abraham?
