In 2024, a relationship breakdown ended in tragedy on Christmas Day when Kirsty Carless was convicted at Stafford Crown Court for murdering her ex-partner, 31-year-old Louis Price. After their separation, Mr Price had been staying at his parents’ home in Cannock, Staffordshire. At the time, police had considered him to be at very high risk of domestic abuse.
During the early hours of 25 December 2024, Kirsty, aged 33, went to the property carrying a kitchen knife. The court heard that a friend had shown her Mr Price’s Tinder profile earlier that night. What followed was described as an act driven by anger and jealousy, with feelings of betrayal and rejection likely playing a significant role.
She stabbed him once in the chest with a 12-inch kitchen knife. The blade penetrated 12 centimetres, passing through his rib, lung and heart. A pathologist told the court that the wound had been catastrophic and that Mr Price would have died within a minute.
It was a deeply tragic case, one that highlighted how destructive unresolved emotions can become when they are allowed to take control.
Many of us know what it feels like to be hurt, to feel betrayed, rejected or jealous.
These feelings can damage relationships, divide families and leave wounds that take years to heal.
The question is not whether we will ever face these emotions, it’s how we choose to respond to them. Will we allow them to consume us, or will we confront them, understand them and grow beyond them?
If you have ever struggled with feelings of betrayal, jealousy or rejection, you are not alone.
Join us this Thursday for ‘The Day to Combat Betrayal, Jealousy and Rejection’ — a moment to reflect, gain insight and learn how to handle difficult emotions in a healthier way.
