Friday 13th: Choose Faith Over Fear

Friday 13th
When you hear Friday the 13th, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Bad luck? A day when things are just bound to go wrong? For many, it’s not just another date on the calendar — it’s a day steeped in superstition. Plans are made with extra caution and people feel on edge.

But for some, it goes even deeper. It’s not just the day they fear, it’s the number itself. That fear has a name: triskaidekaphobia. It may sound like a tongue-twister, but for those who experience it, it’s very real. People go to great lengths to avoid the number — From skipping floor numbers in lifts, to avoiding seat 13 on a flight, or staying clear of houses and hotel rooms with that number.

Many people avoid certain activities on this day or carry around objects like coarse salt, rue, horseshoes or four-leaf clovers to bring good fortune.

Black cats, broken mirrors, ladders, spilled salt — none of these things can truly dictate the course of your life. But fear can. And superstition is rooted in fear. Where there’s fear, there’s doubt. And where there’s doubt, there’s a lack of faith.

This is where the real battle lies — not in avoiding the number 13, but in guarding our hearts and minds against the fear that tries to creep in. Fear clouds our trust in God’s protection and distorts our view of His promises.

There are also those who invest in this date to carry out spiritual work with the intention of destroying lives. That’s why it’s so important to be under God’s protection and filled with faith, not fear.

This Friday, 13th June, we invite you to choose faith over fear and join us for our Spiritual Cleansing meeting, where we will fight against all forms of negativity.

You might be reading this and thinking, “But I’m already fighting — and I’m still losing.” Maybe your life feels stuck. Maybe you’ve tried everything and nothing seems to change. That could be a sign that your battle isn’t just physical – it could be spiritual.

When suffering, confusion, or hardship seem to follow you no matter what you do, it’s often a sign that something deeper is at work. No matter how much effort you put in, things never quite shift.

That’s when it’s time to stop carrying the weight alone and turn to the only One who can lift it.

“Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

These words are a promise, not just for some, but for all who are weary and are struggling. That includes you.

This is your chance to be spiritually cleansed, renewed, and strengthened. When you confront the root of your battles, it allows God to turn all evil into good.
