Londoners were invited to take control of their heart health at a free community event held in Finsbury Park and hosted by the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God’s Patient Care Group (PCG) on 28 February from 3pm to 5pm.
Held during Heart Health Month, the Heart Health Event offered free consultations and health checks delivered by qualified healthcare professionals, alongside a specialist talk from a practising doctor on common heart-related conditions and how to prevent them.
With cardiovascular disease remaining one of the UK’s leading causes of death, the event provided practical, accessible advice in a relaxed community setting – helping people understand their risk factors, improve lifestyle choices and spot early warning signs.
The initiative builds on growing public recognition of the role faith-based organisations can play in supporting community wellbeing. Research commissioned by UCKG found that 60% of UK adults believe faith-based organisations are uniquely positioned to help address key societal challenges, including mental health and physical wellbeing. In London, this confidence rises to 73%.
Bishop Allan Passos said: “Heart health is something that affects every family, yet many people delay seeking advice until it is too late. Through initiatives like this, we want to make simple health checks and professional guidance more accessible to the local community.
“Faith is not only about spiritual support, it is also about practical action.”
UCKG’s Patient Care Group regularly delivers community-focused health initiatives as part of the church’s wider outreach work across its 38 full-time UK branches.
