The Promise That Sustains Us in Tough Times

News 6

In life, no one is exempt from problems. Crises, losses, family dilemmas, betrayals, financial struggles, inner conflicts and disappointments can arise for everyone, often without warning. Facing adversity is part of the human journey, and the Bible itself prepares us for this reality. In John 16:33, the Lord Jesus declared, “In the world you will have tribulation…”

However, this verse continues: “…but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” In Isaiah 43:2, we also read: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.”

In other words, God’s Word doesn’t promise a life free of difficulties, but it assures us that He will strengthen those who trust in Him. If trouble is certain, it’s also certain that He is always available to help us overcome it.

Perhaps today you feel surrounded by problems, as if life itself has lost its brightness. If that’s the case, consider this question: Do you remember what your biggest worry was exactly a year ago? If you don’t, this indicates that every problem can be overcome. And even if you do remember, notice how that pain – once unbearable – has lost its urgency and power over you. This simple reflection shows that what troubles us today may become irrelevant tomorrow, or even turn into a testimony of victory.

Living by faith is not about denying problems or pretending everything is fine; it’s about placing our concerns in God’s hands and moving forward, believing He is with us every step of the way – even on the most difficult paths.
