Does the Way You Act Bring People Closer or Further Away from God?

It is common to see major brands associating their names with individuals – usually artists, athletes, or influencers – who embody the values they promote. However, when someone’s conduct doesn’t align with a company’s values, it can tarnish the reputation of both the individual and the brand, often resulting in the end of their partnership.

A recent example is UK rapper and YouTuber Yung Filly, who has faced the termination of multiple brand partnerships due to serious abuse allegations. If someone’s actions can have such significant consequences in the business world, how much more significant is the responsibility of representing the Name of the Lord Jesus?

In the past, God revealed Himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel. These heroes of faith honoured His Name through their righteous and reverent behaviour, and as a result, their names became forever linked to the Name of God. Today, this responsibility falls upon us as Christians. Our conduct can influence others to either embrace or reject the Gospel of the Lord Jesus.

Many individuals are zealous for their own reputation but overlook the responsibility of honouring the Name of the Lord before those who do not yet know Him. Some may attend church regularly while displaying a BAD character, a BAD temper, or being a BAD husband or wife, a BAD son or daughter, a BAD employee or boss, a BAD student, and so on. How can someone with such behaviour convince others that Jesus is GOOD?

Our negative examples can discourage people, including our own family members from seeking God. On the other hand, a positive testimony – whether at home or at work – can often be more impactful than prayers. Think about it. Reflect on the example you have been setting for those around you and how this can affect the way they see God.
