Do Curses Really Exist?

04.26 Point of Light
In today’s society, the idea of a curse can sound old-fashioned, like something taken straight from a fairy tale or horror film. Yet when we stop and reflect, many of us can recall situations that seem far too repetitive and unexplained to simply be called coincidence.

You may know a family where the same struggles appear generation after generation. It could be destructive habits, broken relationships, financial hardship, or even recurring health problems. Perhaps you have noticed similar patterns within your own family history too.

One widely reported example is that of the Nolan Sisters, the famous girl group from Blackpool who achieved huge success during the 1970s and 80s. Despite their fame, the family has faced an unusual and heartbreaking succession of illnesses, particularly cancer.

Over the years, several tragic events have affected the family. Bernie Nolan was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 and sadly passed away three years later. Their brother Brian also lost his wife to cancer just two years after their wedding. Anne and Linda Nolan were both diagnosed with cancer within only four days of each other, and around the same time, Linda also lost her husband to skin cancer. Linda herself battled cancer twice before passing away in January 2025, two decades after her first diagnosis. Speaking to The Mirror, the youngest sister, Coleen, admitted: “It feels like a curse is in our family.”

Situations like these can leave people feeling trapped in a cycle that never seems to end, no matter how much effort is made to move forward.

For those facing challenges that seem impossible to explain, seeking spiritual help can make all the difference. That is why, at the Universal Church, we hold services every Friday dedicated to spiritual deliverance and protection. Through prayer and faith, many people have found strength to overcome negativity and break free from these patterns.

Our current Chain of Prayer, Point of Light, is focused on bringing what is hidden into the light and helping people find freedom from whatever may be hindering their progress in life.

If you have been going through problems you cannot explain, or you simply feel that something is not right, this could be your opportunity to seek spiritual support this Friday 29th May at a Universal Church near you.
