Consecration of the Groups

This Sunday, 16th March, the Universal Church will hold a special consecration for all its groups. This moment highlights the dedication of those who serve in various capacities within the church, ensuring that they continue their work with renewed strength and divine guidance.

Here’s a look at some of the groups within the church and the vital roles they play in the community:

Patient Care Group (PCG)

The Patient Care Group consists of volunteers who dedicate their time to supporting patients and their families. Whether through hospital or home visits or simply offering a listening ear, this group aims to lessen the burden of illness on patients and their families by extending the hand of friendship and offering emotional and spiritual support during these challenging times.

The Caleb Group

The Caleb Group is open to individuals aged 55 and above. This group provides them with opportunities for social engagement and personal development whilst helping senior citizens in our community. This group holds monthly events, with the goal of ensuring that members remain active, valued, and spiritually strengthened in faith.

Rescue of Dignity Group (ROD)

This group is committed to supporting individuals who have been incarcerated, offering them hope and encouragement. The ROD volunteers correspond with inmates through letters, conduct visits, and provide prayers and spiritual support to help them rebuild their lives. They also extend their support to families of inmates, ensuring that no one is left to face these challenges alone.

Victory Youth Group (VYG)

The Victory Youth Group (VYG) caters to young people aged 14-25. This dynamic group provides a platform for young people to discover their talents, develop essential life skills, and build meaningful friendships. Through music, dance, arts, and community engagement, the VYG empowers young people to overcome challenges and work towards a successful future, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Children’s Biblical Centre (CBC)

The CBC serves children aged 0-10, offering them a nurturing environment where they can learn Biblical values while their parents attend church services. Through carefully planned lessons, the DBS checked helpers and educators help children develop faith, obedience, and respect for others. The dedicated team ensures that the children build a solid foundation for their future, helping them grow into responsible and spiritually strong individuals.

Universal Teen Force (UTF)

The Universal Teen Force is designed to guide teenagers aged 11-14 through the pivotal phase of adolescence. This period of life is filled with changes, challenges, and important decisions, making it essential for teens to receive the right guidance. Through faith-based teachings and engaging activities, the UTF encourages teenagers to develop positive habits, build strong values, and form healthy relationships. Advisors within the group also provide prayers and spiritual support tailored to the teens’ needs.

Now that you know more about the groups, what is the meaning of being consecrated and why is it important?

When King Charles was crowned, he was anointed with holy oil from Jerusalem. The sacred act of anointing a monarch with holy oil dates back to the 7th and 8th centuries and signifies that the monarch has been chosen by God.

In the Bible, oil symbolises the presence of the Holy Spirit and features in several biblical accounts. For instance, the prophet Samuel anointed David as king (1 Samuel 16). The act of anointing with consecrated oil holds great significance in Christian life.

Similarly, as each group within the Universal Church is consecrated, they reaffirm their commitment to serving the community and fulfilling God’s mission. As Ecclesiastes 9:8 states, “Let your garments always be white, and let your head lack no oil.” This verse reminds us of the importance of remaining in God’s will and seeking His guidance in all that we do.

Every member of these groups is chosen by God to serve, and the Universal Church’s motto— “Helping people is what drives us”—reflects this mission. Through prayer and consecration, these groups will be empowered to give even more to those in need.
