On 18th December 2023, construction work began on the very first Cathedral of Faith in Bolivia. After months of prayer, dedication and hard work, the vision became reality.
Less than two years later, on Sunday, 28th September, the Cathedral was officially inaugurated.
The service took place at 9:30am and was led by Bishop Júlio Freitas, with over 2,400 people present to witness this special moment of faith and celebration.
During the inauguration, Bishop Júlio reminded everyone that the cathedral is not simply a physical structure but a sacred place where people can truly encounter God.
“The Lord Jesus not only blesses families,” he explained, “but also invites each person to become part of His heavenly family.”
He reflected on the biblical passage where God declares, “Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.” (2 Chronicles 7:15)
He also meditated on John 15:1-7
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit… If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”
Bishop emphasised that God’s Word brings true inner cleansing—but only when it is put into practice, whether honouring Him with our word or guarding our heart from evil.
The Cathedral is located at Calle Junín 564, between Av. Cañoto and Calle Sara, in Santa Cruz de la Sierra—the capital of the Santa Cruz department. It can seat 1,600 people and also offers free parking, making it a welcoming place for those across the city and beyond.
The Universal Church first arrived in Bolivia in 1996, and today there are 38 churches across the country. This new cathedral stands as a central point of faith, uniting thousands who seek to draw closer to God.
