Are You Feeling Anxious?

Anxiety is a common human experience. It can arise in many situations—whether you’re facing a big life decision, dealing with financial pressures, or navigating difficult relationships.

Life’s uncertainties often leave us feeling overwhelmed and unsure of the future.

Take a recent tragedy at Toronto Pearson Airport, where the plane crashed onto the runway, prompting emergency crews to rush in and extinguish the rising flames surrounding the overturned jet. Thankfully, everyone aboard the Delta flight from Minneapolis survived the crash. While some passengers sustained minor injuries, there were no fatalities. Such incidents reinforce the fears many have about flying. But beyond air travel, anxiety is evident in various aspects of life.

Many experience similar distress in different areas:

  • Career and Finances: Job insecurity and financial instability can lead to sleepless nights and constant worry.
  • Health Concerns: Uncertainty about medical diagnoses or personal well-being can create distress.
  • Relationships: Strained relationships, misunderstandings, or loss can result in emotional turmoil.
  • Life Transitions: Moving to a new place, changing careers, or starting a family can trigger fear of the unknown.

How do we navigate these feelings and find peace among uncertainty?

Consider the words of the Lord Jesus:

“Therefore, whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock” (Matthew 7:24-25).

In this passage, the house symbolises the person who wisely listens to the words of Jesus and applies them. By doing so, they establish a firm foundation, unshaken by life’s storms. The word of God provides stability, assurance, and peace in all situations.

The next part of the scripture says:

“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall” (Matthew 7:26-27).

This illustrates that simply hearing the Word without applying it leaves one vulnerable to life’s challenges. Knowledge alone isn’t enough—it must be put into practice. Faith is built not just by listening but by living according to God’s teachings.

As you absorb His teachings, your faith strengthens, and you find peace in His promises. The word of God brings peace to all areas of life. When you make God’s word your foundation, fear loses its grip, tranquillity takes its place and you are assured of divine protection and guidance in every situation.
