The Holy Spirit is the Source of faith. It’s not something we earn through good behaviour, personal achievements or charitable acts. For this reason, our relationship with God must be carefully protected. When this spiritual connection remains pure and sincere, we are able to enjoy true communion and direct communication with Him.
Faith is the key to victory. That’s why negative forces constantly try to weaken it, often by planting doubts and confusion in the mind. One of their most common tactics is to make the world seem more attractive. The world presents itself as exciting, glamorous and full of promise. It offers pleasure, success and recognition. Yet its glory is temporary. What seems impressive today can quickly fade away tomorrow.
The Bible gives us a clear example of this in King Solomon. He was the wisest man who ever lived and had unimaginable wealth. Even so, his heart was led astray. Despite all his wisdom, the attractions of the world gradually corrupted him. His story reminds us that intelligence and riches alone are not enough to preserve faith.
God’s Kingdom, however, is eternal and prepared for those who are saved. This is why God gives us the Holy Spirit — to guide us, strengthen us and help keep our faith pure. The Apostle Paul highlights the importance of this when he writes: “having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck.” (1 Timothy 1:19).
When negative thoughts or wrong ideas try to take root in our minds, we must confront them with faith. Ignoring them only gives them room to grow stronger. Faith must be actively protected and exercised. By doing this, we safeguard what matters most — the salvation of our souls.
