5 Biblical Promises for Health and Wellbeing

Biblical Promises

Life can often take a heavy toll on our physical and emotional health. Stress, exhaustion, discouragement, illness, and the fear of being unable to cope with challenges can gradually weaken even the strongest person.

However, the Word of God offers more than comfort – it offers promises. These promises reveal God’s desire not only to strengthen us spiritually but also to restore our health, calm our minds, and bring wholeness to every area of our wellbeing. Below are five powerful biblical assurances that remind us we are never left to face life’s struggles alone.

  1. God Promises to Renew Our Strength

When we feel worn out or overwhelmed, God offers supernatural renewal: “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31).

  1. God Promises Peace of Mind

God assures perfect peace to those who trust Him: “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” (Isaiah 26:3).

  1. God Promises to Be Close to the Broken-hearted

Emotional wounds are just as real as physical ones. God draws near to those who feel crushed within: “The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.” (Psalm 34:18).

  1. God Promises Healing

In His Word, God clearly states that He is the One who heals: “…For I am the Lord who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26).

  1. At the Cross, Jesus Bore Our Sicknesses and Carried Our Pains

The sacrifice of the Lord Jesus includes provision for our healing: “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows…” (Isaiah 53:4). The Hebrew words ḥolî (“griefs”) and makʾōb (“sorrows”) can also refer to sicknesses and pains. Isaiah reveals that part of the Messiah’s sacrifice involved taking upon Himself the physical and emotional afflictions of humanity.
