When You Need Strength Beyond Your Own

Fibroid Awareness
Every July, Fibroids Awareness Month takes place to raise awareness about uterine fibroids and the impact they have on women’s health around the world.

It is estimated that around 70% to 80% of women will develop fibroids by the age of 50, yet many do not receive a diagnosis until much later. Fibroids, also known as leiomyomas or myomas, can affect women in different ways depending on their size, number, and location. Some women experience no symptoms at all, while others face challenges that significantly disrupt their daily life and wellbeing.

Some women experience heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding that leads to fatigue and weakness. Others deal with pelvic pain or pressure that makes everyday movement uncomfortable. Frequent urination can also disturb sleep and reduce quality of life. In certain cases, fibroids may affect fertility and make it more difficult to conceive. Along with the physical symptoms, many women also carry the emotional burden of living with long-term discomfort, which can feel overwhelming.

In the Bible, Mark 5:25-34, tells the inspiring story of a woman who faced a similar long-term condition. She had been suffering from a bleeding condition for twelve years and had spent everything she had on treatment, yet instead of getting better, her condition had worsened. After years of disappointment, she could easily have given up hope.

However, everything changed when she heard that Jesus was passing by. In that moment, she made a decision not to remain how she was. Despite her weakness and the crowds surrounding Him, she believed that if she could only touch His garment, she would be healed. Her faith moved her to act, even when the circumstances seemed against her.

As soon as she touched Jesus’ garment, her bleeding stopped. Her story is one of perseverance, hope and faith. She refused to allow years of disappointment to stop her from believing that her situation could change.

Whether you have recently been diagnosed with fibroids or have been living with the condition for years, it can sometimes feel as though no one understands what you are going through.

However, support is available both practically and spiritually. It is important to seek medical advice and follow the guidance of healthcare professionals, as symptoms should never be ignored or left untreated.

At the same time, prayer can be a source of strength and comfort. You can find encouragement in knowing that God listens and cares about what you are going through.

It can help you stay encouraged and strong along the way.

Join us for our health day service this Tuesday, 7th July, and like the woman turned to jesus, come and see what faith can do for you too.
