We Care initiative in Manchester

MCR

On Saturday 1st July, 16 volunteers from the Universal Church in Manchester headed to Ardwick Green Park to give it a clean, as part of the We Care initiative.

This is a project that is organised by the Victory Youth Group (VYG) – a community group tailored to young people – to give back to the community.

On arrival, the volunteers received the cleaning materials needed from the local authority who oversaw this project, who expressed that she was very pleased with their help and welcomes the preparation of future events.

At 1pm, with bin bags and litter pickers in hand, the youths commenced the afternoon of cleaning. The smiles on their face reflected the joy they had in being part of this great work.

The volunteers willingly offered their Saturday afternoon to show a local park some care because they appreciate the important of a clean and safe environment for the members of their local community.

A member of the Victory Youth group who took part of the cleaning explained why they love to take part in projects such as this one, “It is fulfilling to give back to the community”!

Overall, it was a huge success and the volunteers collected a total of 16 bin bags worth of waste in two hours. The coordinator of this initiative and all the volunteers look forward to more projects such as this one.
