The second Universal Teen Force (UTF) Bible Knowledge Fair was a truly inspiring event! This year’s theme, ‘In the Footsteps of Jesus,’ provided an opportunity for the teens from the London branches to explore key moments in the life of Jesus. These moments were brought to life through a performance by the teens themselves, followed by a family discussion. This highlighted the vital role parents play in discussing the Word of God and building a strong foundation for their children.
The event began with a lively selection of songs which got everyone singing and dancing. This was followed by an exciting Bible Challenge where different branches competed by regions (North, South, East and West) before joining forces with the parents for a joint effort. The challenge perfectly set the stage for the UTF Musical: In the Footsteps of Jesus.
Nathan Pacquette, one of the teens, shared: “I wasn’t expecting the games and activities beforehand – it was such a great surprise. Performing was a lot of fun, but also a bit nerve-racking! What I’ve taken away from today is the importance of always trusting in God. I’m already looking forward to next year’s event.”
Daniel Pacquette, Nathan’s father, shared his thoughts: “Today’s event, along with the preparation for his role, meant so much to Nathan. Even at a young age, he takes the things of God very seriously. He absolutely loves being part of UTF, and I’m so glad I came today to see his contribution.”
After the performance, Bishop James Marques gave a special message. He read from Hebrews 12:2: “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Bishop James encouraged the teens to keep their eyes fixed on Jesus, rather than the world. He shared a personal story from his youth about having posters of famous figures on his wall, explaining how he naturally began to imitate them. He explained that similarly, teenagers today are influenced by friends, family members, celebrities, and others they admire, often without even realising it. However, since the event was focused on walking in the footsteps of Jesus, Bishop emphasised that we should look to Him above all others, aiming to reflect His character in our own lives.
He also set a practical challenge for the teens: to put down their phones during dinner time and use that time to meditate on the Word of God. Bishop then concluded with a prayer.
Following the main programme, the teens, UTF advisors and parents enjoyed a series of Bible-themed games, organised into three stations:
Winners took home a variety of prizes, including Bibles, copies of the book In the Footsteps of Jesus, stickers and more. Every participant also received a Bible bookmark featuring chapters from In the Footsteps of Jesus, encouraging them to read and tick off each chapter as they go.
Mrs Luana Peruzzo, who leads the UTF work in the UK, shared her appreciation for the event:
“Today’s event was amazing! It brought so much joy to see the teens and their parents engaging together. In an age where young people are often glued to their phones, events like this are important. It reminds teens of what truly matters – reading the Bible and following in the footsteps of Jesus.”
