Two forces that need to walk together for your success

In the business world, there are two types of people: those who only use faith and those who only use intelligence. But to achieve true success, these two forces must work together. When you focus on just one of them, it’s like hopping on one leg. But when they are united, they move faster towards their objective. Do you find yourself at one of these extremes?

For example, there are people who struggle to act: they expect God to do their part. You have to understand that you may pray, make your vows, but it’s up to you to provide good quality of service, seek new sources of income, study, etc. Everything updates very fast and it’s up to you to keep track of progress. If you don’t develop, seek for wisdom, reinvent yourself, or do your part, you can be overtaken.

Just as wisdom cannot lack, it’s the same with prayer, faith, fasting, reading the Word of God, and obedience. Faith and intelligence work together!

Hezekiah’s victory

One of the most successful kings in Israel’s history applied this lesson to win one of the worst battles of his reign. When he was threatened by the king of Assyria (who had a much larger army), Hezekiah invested in soldiers, weapons, protection of the city and encouragement of the army (2 Chronicles 32: 5-7). He prepared himself physically for war; after all, intelligence is linked to the physical world.

It didn’t take long for him to receive the letter from the hand of the messengers, who promised to destroy Israel (2 Chronicles 32:9-19). Even if he was prepared, humanly speaking, he would not be able to defeat the enemy.

Hezekiah did not rely on his own strength. Together with the people, he cried out to God, for there are issues that are only overcome in the spiritual world, which is the battlefield for the action of faith (2 Chronicles 32:20-22). Hezekiah won the war using his intelligence, but he also understood that he needed faith to overcome that situation.
