Contrary to what many people may think, prayer is not a mere recitation of religious words without meaning or purpose. Prayers are a direct form of communication with the Most High and a powerful tool that can help us overcome difficulties and achieve victory. The Holy Scriptures confirm this:
“As for me, I will call upon God, and the Lord shall save me. Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice.” (Psalm 55:16-17).
Unfortunately, many people pray little – or not at all. As a result, they often lack the strength needed to overcome the obstacles that arise in their daily lives.
Prayer demonstrates our dependence on God. Through this act of faith, we cast our fears, anxieties and doubts – everything that weighs on us – upon Him. Therefore, it is an extremely important practice. This direct access to communicate with God is available to everyone, at all times. So, why not take advantage of this great privilege?
When facing financial difficulties, prayer can bring peace and guidance. During family conflict, it can restore unity and love. When battling health problems, prayer uplifts the spirit and strengthens our trust that everything will be alright.
Whether it’s apprehension before an important exam or meeting, stress at work or loneliness, a sincere prayer can transform the situation and provide clarity and peace. No matter how big or small the challenge may be, prayer connects us to the One who has the power to help.
It is also essential to pray when things go well. When we succeed, overcome challenges or receive blessings, we should take a moment to give thanks to the Lord. By doing this, we acknowledge that our victories come from God, and this attitude keeps us humble and connected to Him. This gratitude shows that we do not take His blessings for granted and that we trust in His continued presence in our lives.
To help you develop – or maintain – this powerful habit, every day at the Universal Church we hold special meetings that focus on specific areas of life. These gatherings are open to all and offer guidance and inspiration on how to use the power of prayer effectively to achieve lasting change.
You are warmly invited to attend and experience how faith in action can make a real difference in your life. Click here to check our full timetable and join us at your nearest Universal Church.
But remember: prayer is not limited to a church setting. Group prayer is essential, so it’s extremely important to go to the House of God regularly, but go beyond that. Wherever you are, remember that God is there to listen to you, so make that place your point of contact with Him.
And after praying, trust that He has heard you and will bring you the answer.
