When we receive a diagnosis, begin treatment and follow medical advice, we naturally hope to see positive results as soon as possible. Yet for many people, recovery can take longer than expected. Despite appointments, tests, medication and various treatments, improvement may not come straight away.
When this happens, it is not only the illness that can become difficult to bear. Feelings of fear, frustration and discouragement often begin to creep in, leaving people wondering if things will ever change. During these moments, faith can provide the strength needed to keep moving forward.
It is common to see the symbol of the cross in hospitals, pharmacies and healthcare settings. But for Christians,  the cross represents  far more than a symbol, it represents victory.
Through His sacrifice, the Lord Jesus overcame evil and transformed what appeared to be defeat into triumph, opening the way to a new life. For this reason, the cross continues to remind us of faith, hope and confidence in God’s power.
We see this clearly in the story of the woman who suffered from a continual flow of blood, as recorded in the Bible. She had exhausted every option available to her, yet her situation remained the same. Humanly speaking, she had every reason to give up. But instead of accepting defeat, she chose to believe.
After hearing about Jesus, she made a decision. She did not wait for the perfect moment. She did not depend on anyone else to act on her behalf. Believing that God could change her circumstances, she took a step of faith.
Despite her weakness, she pressed through the crowd determined to reach Jesus. She believed that if she could only touch His garment, she would be healed. And when she touched His clothes, she was healed immediately.
Her story reminds us that genuine faith goes beyond words. It is a faith that acts, perseveres and continues to trust God even when circumstances suggest otherwise.
As we learn more about God’s Word and put His teachings into practice, our confidence in Him grows. We begin to understand that faith is not based on what we see.
Perhaps you are currently facing a health challenge, waiting for answers or hoping for a breakthrough. If so, why not combine your medical treatment with faith in God?
This Tuesday, 9th June, join us for the Health Day service at your nearest Universal Church. It will be an opportunity to seek God, strengthen your faith and place your concerns before Him.
The woman in the Bible did not allow 12 years of suffering to destroy her hope. Life may not always unfold according to our plans or within our preferred timeframe, but God remains faithful. Even when the journey is difficult, we can continue believing that He is working in ways we may not yet see.
No matter how long the struggle has lasted, never lose sight of the fact that with God there is always hope.
