The Universal Church is reaching more communities across Spain, following the opening of new locations in Albacete and Logroño last month.
The first inauguration took place on 14 July at Rua Dionisio Guardiola, 54, in Albacete, bringing together around 130 people, including 40 first-time attendees.
The new building provides a larger and better-equipped environment for those attending the meetings.
Designed to support both the church’s meetings and its wider community activities, the building includes dedicated areas for children, adolescents and young people, rooms for volunteers, and a storage area for materials used in social assistance programmes.
Bishop Joaquim Fernandes led the meeting, emphasised the importance of seeking God and turning to Him in times of difficulty. During the service, he consecrated the altar with blessed olive oil and anointed those present before sharing a message based on 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Reflecting on the verse, Bishop Joaquim explained that God listens to those who humble themselves before Him, pray and sincerely seek Him. He also highlighted that people can experience suffering when they distance themselves from God.
Building on this message, he shared the promise found in verse 15: “Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.” The words served as a reminder of the purpose of the new church: to provide a place where people can pray, seek God and find spiritual support.
And 12 days later, the inauguration in Albacete was followed by the opening of a second location in Logroño, in the La Rioja region.
For the past two and a half years, meetings in the city had been held once a week in an event hall. To mark the occasion, more than 30 regular attendees gathered for the inauguration of this new church.
Located at 6 San Matías Street, the building can accommodate up to 120 people. It also includes an additional area for the Children’s Biblical Centre, providing space for younger attendees. The permanent location also means meetings now take place throughout the week.
Together, the openings in Albacete and Logroño reflect the Universal Church’s continued growth in Spain and its commitment to supporting local communities.
