How to Stand Out Like Caleb

Standing Out

The Bible tells the story of Caleb, one of the twelve spies sent by Moses to assess the Promised Land (see Numbers 13). When his fellow spies returned with a negative report that frightened the people, Caleb responded differently, immediately rejecting any doubts.

“Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, ‘Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.’” (Numbers 13:30)

Caleb understood that conquering the Promised Land would not be an easy task, but he believed in God’s promise to provide the necessary means for victory, choosing faith over fear. Alongside Joshua, he stood strong in faith despite the obstacles, which allowed him to stand out and ultimately achieve success.

Caleb’s story offers valuable lessons for those seeking to conquer the “Promised Land” of their dreams. Those with intelligent faith trust in God’s plans and do not accept words of defeat, keeping their eyes on the bigger picture. They rebuke negative thoughts and remain focused on God’s promise until achieving their goals.

Upon witnessing the people’s desperate reaction – some even considering going back to Egypt (Numbers 14:5-7) – Caleb helped them understand the importance of not looking at their condition but rather at God, Who could truly give them victory. After all, God had already performed extraordinary miracles in their lives.

When dealing with adversity, don’t look at your conditions or circumstances, as what we see with our physical eyes can often scare and discourage us. Instead, we must live by faith, for its only through faith that we can see beyond our natural eyes. Faith encourages us, and gives us strength and assurance, even when everything seems to go wrong.

Before God can transform your finances, He must first transform your mind – your spirit. We cannot afford to have a broken spirit; instead, we should cultivate a spirit of faith. Time did not kill Caleb’s faith, and we must strive to follow his example.

“But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.” (Numbers 14:24)
