Has eating healthy become unaffordable?

Eating-healthy unaffordable

A survey conducted by BBC Good Food Nation found that 19% of Britons are eating less healthy foods, such as processed or frozen food because they are cheaper. The survey also found that many are also avoiding cooking their meals from scratch to save on their energy bills.

Processed meals very often include a high level of salt, sugar and fat, and although these make the food much tastier, it often increases the possibility of serious diseases such as heart disease, high blood pressure and obesity.

Furthermore, they lack in nutritional value which can also cause extreme fatigue or muscle weakness as a result of anaemia or other deficiencies.

It is evident that the increase in the average cost of living across the UK has not only affected households financially, but also in relation to their physical health.
