Covenant Love: Three Lessons for a Stronger Relationship

What does the Ark of the Covenant have to do with your love life?

Last Thursday’s Love Therapy seminar focused on Hebrews 9:4–5, which describes the three significant items kept inside the Ark of the Covenant: the jar of manna, Aaron’s rod that budded and the tablets of the Law. More than just historical objects, each item reveals valuable lessons that can help anyone build a strong and healthy relationship, whether single or married.

Trust God with Your Future

The jar of manna symbolises God’s daily provision. It serves as a reminder that while we may make plans, we cannot control tomorrow.

It is easy to become anxious about the future, especially when it comes to relationships. Some people worry about finding the right person, while others wonder whether their marriage will overcome its challenges. However, the lesson of the manna is to trust God one day at a time.

When we choose to put Him first and remain faithful, we can be confident that He will provide what we need at the right moment. Instead of living with fear about what lies ahead, we can enjoy the peace that comes from placing our future in His hands.

Let God Guide Your Decisions

Aaron’s rod that budded represents God’s guidance and direction.

Whether choosing a future spouse or navigating difficulties within a marriage, important decisions should never be driven solely by emotions or influenced by the opinions of others. Seeking God’s wisdom helps us make choices that bring stability rather than regret.

When God leads the way, we are able to see beyond our feelings and act with wisdom.

Commitment Is Stronger Than Feelings

The tablets of the Law represent the Word of God.

Every relationship experiences highs and lows. Feelings can fluctuate, circumstances can become difficult and challenges can test even the strongest couples. Yet what keeps a marriage standing is not emotion, but commitment.

A covenant is a decision to remain faithful regardless of the circumstances. Those who honour the promises they made before God discover the strength to overcome difficulties and remain faithful to one another.

This Thursday, 6th August, the Covenant Love purpose will continue during the Love Therapy. Married couples are invited to bring their wedding rings as a symbol of their desire to renew and strengthen the covenant of their marriage, declaring: “…What God has joined together, let not man separate.” (Matthew 19:6)

Those who are single are also encouraged to bring a ring, placing their future love life into God’s hands while believing in His promise: “God sets the solitary in families…” (Psalm 68:6)

Further guidance will be given during the meeting on how the rings will be used as part of this special purpose.

Be part of this special moment, because a successful relationship is not built on chance. It begins with a covenant with God. When trust, guidance and commitment become the foundation, both singles and married couples can build a love life that is able to endure the challenges of life.
