Comfort or slap in the face?

Comfort or slap in the face 1

“Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me.” (Job 38:3 NKJV)

A few times in the book of Job, God asks him to BE A MAN because he is about to hear some truths. God then goes on to deliver a wake up call of a message, so that Job can understand the sovereignty of God.

The Word of God is amazing. It has the power to comfort us, but also to correct us. To encourage us, and also to guide us to the truth (even when it hurts and it feels like a slap in the face).

But of course, we cannot see the Bible as a motivational book where we pick and choose what we like and what we don’t. Every single part of the Word of God is inspired by the Holy Spirit, and those who diligently follow it are called wise (Matthew 7:24).

Whenever you sit down to read God’s Word you have to remember that what you will hear may not always be pleasant, but you can be sure that it will bless you and it will set you free.

Just make sure that if you are going to accept the Bible as the Word of God, you accept everything, and not just what you like.

“All Scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV)
