During a missionary visit to South Africa, Bishop Edir Macedo shared a powerful message about putting God first and living according to His Word. He delivered the message during the Sunday of Firstfruits service, held on the morning of 7 June at the Cathedral of the Sacred Ground in Soweto.
During the message, Bishop Macedo emphasised that God must come first in every person’s life. He explained that God never changes and desires to bless those who trust Him and obey His Word.
He highlighted the importance of honouring God with sincerity and full devotion, reminding those present that God honours those who honour Him, while those who reject Him distance themselves from His blessings.
Bishop also explained that when a person chooses to trust and depend on God, He begins to work in every area of their life, renewing their mind, heart and character.
A Life-Changing Decision
Bishop Macedo then invited everyone present to take a step of faith by giving their lives fully to God at the altar. Referring to Luke 6:38, he shared the following promise:
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
He explained that a genuine relationship with God begins when a person surrenders themselves completely to Him. In return, God offers the greatest gift of all — the Holy Spirit — to those who seek Him with a sincere heart.
The Measure of Surrender
Concluding the message, Bishop Macedo stressed that the extent of a person’s surrender to God affects how God works in their life. Those who believe His Word and put it into practice experience His guidance and the fulfilment of His promises.
The service ended with a reminder that true faith is shown not only through belief, but also through a willingness to obey and live according to God’s Word.
