Two women became friends when they were both pregnant when they met in a drug addiction treatment group. This did not stop them from using heroin in one of their cars, parked on the street, with their newborn babies in the backseat.

In early October, the Boynton Beach Police Department, a city located in the US state of Florida, received a call from one of them when the other started suffering seizures due to drug use. A passerby also noticed the situation and called the emergency service .

Upon arriving at the scene, police and paramedics had to help the two, as, at that moment, both were suffering overdoses. The women were 27-year-old Kristen Leigh O’Connor and 28-year-old June Schweinhart. They were taken to the hospital and later charged with child neglect.

The babies, a 1-month-old and a 2-month-old, were crying in fear when they were found, and while the mothers were rescued, they were referred to the Florida Department of Children and Families. Now they are in the care of family members.

On the social network of the Boynton Beach Police Department , the reason why they decided to publish the case was posted: “We are sharing this story with you in the hope of preventing this from happening again and also motivating anyone addicted to drugs to seek help. ”

The Addiction Disorders

For medicine, addiction is an incurable disease and chemical dependency is treated with medication and hospitalization. But, is it really that the chemistry present in drugs – and which causes severe damage to the body, such as seizures and overdose -, is solely responsible for all the disorder caused by addiction?

We know that addiction is not just limited to the body, it also extends to the psychological and can end up in tragedies in the lives of the addict and the people around him. In the case of mothers in Boynton Beach, they could not have been rescued in time or their babies suffered more serious consequences.

Addiction Treatment (TDV)

Thousands of addicts who have already sought help in different places, but have not obtained a positive result, look for the Treatment of Addictions (TDV) in several countries around the world. Treatment has already rescued thousands of people through faith and has been showing results in the lives of those who believe and want to break free.

If you or your family members are facing this problem and want to break free, attend the Treatment of Addictions (TDV) meetings in London, which take place every Sunday at 3 pm at the Rainbow Theatre .
