Actor Jim Carrey is recognized as one of the great actors of current cinema, standing out both for his comedic interpretations and for his dramatic performances. He has already revealed that he suffered from depression and was involved with drug use. In addition, less than two years ago (in September 2015), his ex-girlfriend, Irish makeup artist Cathriona White, committed suicide by overdose of medication, five days after the end of the relationship. In 2016, Carrey was accused of negligence, as the ex-girlfriend would have ingested medicine that belonged to the actor. Recently, Jim Carrey was in a recovery center for drug users and ex-convicts, in the city of Los Angeles, California, in the United States. In the speech, recorded on video and widely circulated on the internet, he talks about faith in God and the importance of making decisions, especially for those who face great adversity in life.
The actor also stated that he considered everyone in that place heroes, as they had made the decision to overcome themselves and leave the darkness behind. Carrey also explained that people have the option to choose between two paths: following resentment that leads to revenge or forgiveness that leads to total life transformation .
Speaking about the challenges he himself has been facing, the actor said he believes that we should look with compassion and forgiveness at the situation or at the people who are making us suffer. Carrey also recalled that Jesus suffered on the cross, but chose the path of submission to God and forgiveness and that everyone should do the same in search of Salvation.
Trust and Faith
It is very important for the person to persevere in the face of suffering, not to give up halfway through, when one is determined to truly change one’s life. For this, in addition to being prepared to make big decisions, repent, be submissive to God and forgive, it is necessary to have confidence.
As Bishop Edir Macedo points out in his blog, trust is the continuity of faith. The greater the cultivation of faith, the greater the confidence. One of the great heroes of the faith, King David, despite the gravity of his mistakes, kept his confidence intact.
“King David was quite experienced both in faith and trust in God. As a young man he collected wonderful experiences of the action of faith. Because of this, he learned to trust the Author of his faith (…) The care of his faith kept him humble to recognize his sin and be forgiven. It was enough to keep his name written in the Book of Life”, explains the Bishop.
God is always ready to give a new chance to those who are confident and really want to change their lives and remain in His presence. “Conquering is not difficult, it is difficult to maintain the achievements. This is only possible through the power of trust. Faith depends on trust to maintain the achievements it provides”, he concludes.
