Becky Squire lives in Utah, in the United States, and is the mother of Eli, 7 years old, and Bronx, 5. Recently, when watching a video sent by her neighbor, which showed the children in her garden, she was surprised.
Contrary to the mother’s first thought upon receiving the tape – “Oh, no! I wonder what my boys did?” – rather than some mischief, the images showed a beautiful attitude of honesty.
The video shows the boys walking along the neighbor’s sidewalk when they see something lying on the ground and pick it up. It was only a few coins, less than a dollar according to the mother, and even so, the older one asked the younger one, “Do you want to do the right thing or do you want to keep the money?” And he had the answer: ” Do the right thing. ” Both then call the resident and return the money.
In an interview with the Family Share website , the mother said she was proud of the boys’ attitude. “It would have been so easy for them to keep the money. My heart smiled when I saw them make the right decision without any hesitation. I never thought, ‘Wow, I think I’m doing really well as a mother!’ Instead, I continue to be amazed at the extraordinary integrity that all of my children display. They are role models for me.”
