Jonathan Koppenhaver is an MMA fighter and has 14 fights in his professional history, including 9 wins. <\/span>At the beginning of his career, Koppenhaver won 5 out of 6 fights, 4 of them by knockout (3 in the first <\/span><\/span>round<\/span><\/span><\/em> ) and one by submission (when the opposing fighter asks the judge to stop the fight so he doesn’t get hurt anymore). <\/span>These impressive numbers earned the fighter the nickname \u201cWar Machine\u201d, which in Portuguese means \u201cMachine of War\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Koppenhaver had a stable career, having gone through the two biggest organizing companies in the world: UFC and Bellator. <\/span>However, in 2014, an attempted murder interrupted that career, when he was 31 years old and in excellent physical shape.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWar Machine\u201d was in a troubled relationship with actress Christy Mack, famous for participating in several adult films in the United States. <\/span>According to her, the two terim ended their relationship 3 months ago when, at dawn, the fighter showed up at her house without warning.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Koppenhaver found his ex-girlfriend talking to a friend, both clothed and unarmed, and that was enough to arouse his ire.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWithout even a word, he started hitting my friend; <\/span>when it was over, he sent my friend away and turned his attention to me\u201d, said the actress <\/span><\/span>on her Facebook<\/span><\/span><\/a> , in the week of the aggression. <\/span>\u201cHe made me take off my clothes and shower in front of him, then he dragged me outside and hit my face. <\/span>I have no memory of how many times I was beaten, I just know the result of the beating\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The consequences were 18 fractures around the eyes, a broken nose in two places, several missing and broken teeth, a fractured rib and the liver severely damaged by a kick. <\/span>In addition to all this, several bruises on the body, including bruises on the leg that made it impossible for the actress to walk, and holes made by a knife in the hands and head. <\/span>If she hadn’t been very strong, she wouldn’t be alive today.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe left the bedroom and went into the kitchen, where I could hear him rummaging through my drawers. <\/span>Imagining he was looking for a sharper knife to kill me with, I fled through the back door,” the actress wrote. <\/span>\u201cI jumped over the fence onto the golf course behind my house and ran through the neighborhood. <\/span>Naked and afraid he was going to catch up with me, I kept running and banging on doors. <\/span>Finally, one of them opened and I was taken to the hospital.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

While assaulting Christy, Koppenhaver attempted to rape her but failed. <\/span>Already in the hospital, the actress informed her followers on social networks: \u201cHe hit me many times before, but never this much.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Don’t take the same risk<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Months before this assault, Koppenhaver posted on his Twitter, as if it were a joke, that he had just raped his own girlfriend. <\/span>At the time, Christy came to her defense, saying that had not happened.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After the attempted murder, however, she revealed the truth: many times she had been sexually abused by him and beaten.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, out of fear, many women fail to denounce their partners for the aggressions committed. <\/span>The biggest problem with this is that, every time the aggression happens with impunity, the aggressor increases the violence, as explained by the writer Cristiane Cardoso, author of the book \u201cCasamento Blindado”:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

When Christy reported the most severe assault to the police, the \u201cWar Machine\u201d fled. <\/span>Shortly afterwards, however, he was arrested. <\/span>On the last day 5, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for 29 crimes, including attempted murder, torture, kidnapping and rape. <\/span>The fighter may apply for parole after serving 36 years in a closed regime.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
