In less than a week, two fires killed dozens of people in Portugal and England and left hundreds homeless.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In Pedr\u00f3g\u00e3o Grande, district of Leiria, in Central Portugal, rescue teams have confirmed that at least 62 people have died because of a huge fire that has hit the place (image on the side) <\/span><\/span>since<\/span><\/span><\/strong> Saturday (17), caused by a \u201cdry storm\u201d. \u201d in green areas where the temperature reached 40 degrees. <\/span>Quickly, the flames spread to neighboring regions. <\/span>Many people died in their cars as they tried to flee the fire along the roads.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As of Monday morning, the fire was still not fully under control. <\/span>The fire is the worst suffered by the Portuguese in recent decades and one of the biggest in <\/span><\/span>recent European history<\/span><\/span><\/a> .<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In London, the English capital, the Metropolitan Police (Met) informed that, so far, 79 people died due to a fire in the Grenfell Tower ( <\/span><\/span>image on the side<\/span><\/span><\/strong> ), a residential building with 24 floors and 120 apartments in North Kensington, west of the city. <\/span>The cause of this fire has yet to be identified.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In both countries, hundreds of people are homeless and suffering from the loss of family members and everything they owned: home, clothes, furniture, among other belongings.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Understanding the seriousness of the situation, the <\/span><\/span>Help Center<\/span><\/span><\/a> is helping the victims of these fires with donations.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In Pedr\u00f3g\u00e3o Grande, due to the violence of the flames, the <\/span><\/span>Help Center volunteers<\/span><\/span><\/a> were unable to approach the places where the victims were to make donations. <\/span>The Portuguese authorities closed all access roads to the district, about 30 kilometers before entering the city, for security reasons. <\/span>Even so, more than 4 tons of drinking water, food and clothing were collected from all the temples in the country and sent to the city of Pombal, which is 40 kilometers from Pedr\u00f3g\u00e3o. <\/span>From there, they will be destined for the victims.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In London, Pastor Michael Boodram explains that pastors, workers and Church members have dedicated themselves to helping people left homeless by the fire at Grenfell Tower.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe entire community came together to offer assistance and relief, not only to those directly affected, but also to local residents who had to evacuate the area and were unable to return to their homes for more than 18 hours.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In the donations, bread, cookies, milk, drinking water and other foods were distributed.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
