Londoners woke up scared and saddened this Wednesday, the 14th, when the main communication vehicles reported a large fire in the region of Nothing Hill and North Kensington, in the west of the British capital.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Located on Latimer Road, the 24-story Grenfell Tower residential building with 120 apartments began to catch fire around 1 am. <\/span>So far, authorities have confirmed at least six deaths, in addition to at least 50 injuries.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

About 250 firefighters and more than 40 trucks were dispatched to the site, in addition to several ambulances. <\/span>London Fire Commissioner Dany Cotton referred to the event as “unprecedented”, confirming that the death toll could not yet be confirmed due to the size and complexity of the fire.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn my 29 years as a firefighter I had never seen anything of this size,\u201d Cotton told reporters at the scene. <\/span>During the interview, she also stated that the causes of the fire have yet to be confirmed as of yet.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In an interview with The Guardian<\/span><\/span><\/em> newspaper <\/span>, a resident who managed to escape with his daughter and girlfriend reported the chaos in the building: \u201cIt was a real nightmare. <\/span>It looked like something out of a horror movie.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Other residents and neighbors report that some people were trapped on the upper floors, waiting for rescue and <\/span><\/span>a way out<\/span><\/span><\/a> . <\/span>There are even reports of residents who threw their children out of the window to try to save the children from suffocation by the smoke from the fire. <\/span>In footage, it is also possible to see desperate residents waving and asking for help on the highest floors of Grenfell Tower.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Tragedy shocks London residents and authorities<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Less than two weeks after the terrorist attacks that left seven dead on London Bridge, in the center of the city, London is again facing a remarkable tragedy.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In a statement, the <\/span><\/span>mayor of the city<\/span><\/span><\/a> , Sadiq Khan, said he was \u201ctruly devastated\u201d by what happened.\u201d <\/span>My heart goes out to all the victims,\u201d added the mayor.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
