In what will probably the biggest wedding this year, the sister of one of the world’s most well-known royals, Pippa Middleton, will be marrying financial broker James Matthews on 20 May. Her extravagant wedding will cost £250,000, which is ten times more than the average cost of weddings in the UK. Having previously dated in 2012, the couple rekindled their relationship in 2015 and are now preparing for their nuptials.
According to Bridebook, the wedding costs include the following.
With her engagement ring costing a whopping £200,000, Pippa’s wedding will certainly be an extravagant celebration. As well as this, guests at her wedding, who include tennis star Roger Federer, are required to bring another outfit to change into for the evening reception. This could be a sign that Pippa will also be changing into another dress for the second part of her wedding, like her sister in 2011. However, this request has come across as unusual because guests are normally never asked to bring a second outfit to weddings. This has also left some people angry that guests should have to spend more money on another outfit on what is set to be a highly documented event.
So who will have to come up with a second outfit option?
In an unprecedented move, it seems as though the ‘no ring no bring’ rule has been broken, as Prince Harry’s girlfriend, Meghan Merkle, is expected to attend the ceremony. The rule bans unmarried people attending the main ceremony, but they are still allowed to attend the reception. However, with things becoming serious between Prince Harry and the Suits star, it seems as though Pippa has decided to break with convention and allow the happy couple to attend the wedding together. Pippa’s brother’s girlfriend has also been added to the guest list along with Prince Charlotte and Prince George, who will be taking the role of flower girl and flower boy.
As the days grow closer and closer to Pippa’s larger-than-life wedding, it seems as though the sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, who is one of the most well-known royals in the world, is looking to make her own stamp on the world. However, will the extravagantness of her wedding become a distraction to the real point of weddings, which is true love and commitment? Moreover, are the requirements for her guests too much for people who want to enjoy the day just as much as the bride herself?
We will not know until the big day. However, if we are sure about one thing, it is that all eyes will be on Pippa Middleton and this will be her day to shine.
