In Russia, a mother tries to sell her own son to pay off debts, according to The Sun newspaper.
A 36-year-old woman tried to sell her own seven-year-old son at a shopping center in Yekaterinburg, Russia, for 4,000 euros, the equivalent of about £3,400.
According to authorities, a woman named Nargiza announced the sale online, saying she needed to “sell her son to pay off debts.”
She was arrested under Russia’s child trafficking laws after employees at an anti-slavery charity posed as shoppers and met her at the mall’s food court.
According to them, she would have said that the boy “didn’t mind” being traded and going to a new family.
In July a man from Bolivia, named Faustino Colque Mollo, 23, sold his own newborn daughter, via WhatsApp application, in order to buy a new mobile phone.
Another case also happened in Russia, where a 33-year-old woman decided to sell her five-day-old son, in order to pay for plastic surgery on her nose.
It’s frightening to note how similar cases are becoming more frequent, this clearly demonstrates how love has become cold, even amongst one’s own family just as the Lord Jesus announced.
“ And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” (Matthew 24.12-13)
“For this reason, humanity has taken great strides towards perdition. For if people do not love and respect God Himself, how will they love and respect their fellow men? Therefore, the lack of love is, without a doubt, one of the greatest signs of the return of the Lord Jesus, and can be seen mainly in families and in people’s life in general”, explained Bishop Macedo, in the commentary Bible.
