In the month of December, the UCKG HelpCentre will embark on a special journey of faith where our main goal will be to bring to reality the things that God promised to do in the lives of all those who are bold and intrepid enough. By following the example of the great men of the Bible, we immerse ourselves in what they believed in and we do what they did. This time, we will be empowering ourselves with the faith of Elijah, who on Mount Carmel challenged the followers of Baal and put an end to the division and hypocrisy that was destroying Israel.
When Israel was under the false belief that Baal was a god, Elijah was the only one with the courage to stand up and challenge the followers of this sect, which was driven by 850 prophets. His challenge could have sentenced him to death and put his faith to shame, but he knew God intimately. His boldness came from the Spirit of the Lord, who was in him, a gift obtained by a lifetime of dedication and obedience to God’s Word. When the prophets of Baal failed to get an answer from their god after hours of chants and sacrifices, Elijah restored the Altar of God which had been destroyed, prepared a burnt sacrifice and poured a large amount of water on it, in such a way that it even filled a trench that circled the altar. Note that he did this in a time of terrible drought, which only increased his demonstration of faith. After Elijah had prayed for just a few seconds, God answered and poured down fire upon the sacrifice in such a way that it consumed even the watery trench.
Elijah was a man revolted against the situation of his people, and he knew his God was the one and only true God, even though no one else shared his belief. On Mount Carmel, everyone SAW that the God of Elijah was the one true God because He answered him!
“How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him;
but if Baal is God, follow him.”(1 Kings 18:21)
When we know that God is great and can fulfil the promises He makes in His Word, we must provoke the miracle by taking up the challenge and lifting up the banner of our faith. God will answer our prayers, and the result of our faith will glorify God. When you dare to challenge, the fire of God comes down.
This is why we will also be presenting the sacrifice of our lives to God on His Altar, just as Elijah did. We believe that this campaigns is an opportunity for people to prove their faith in God. We believe that faith without putting work into it is dead, and the Campaign of Israel is the moment when we get to put an intelligent faith to action and experience the manifestation of God in our lives. If it worked for Elijah, then we believe that it will work in our lives as well.
If you have been believing in the God of the Bible but you haven’t seen Him in your life, then you have to learn from the people who were answered by God. That is why we will be acting upon what Elijah did and expecting to see what Elijah saw. If you want to follow the same faith, come and attend our Sunday meeting to find out more.
