Faith and obedience

“I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread.” (Psalm 37:25)

You can be righteous by faith, but it must be linked to obedience. Without obedience, faith is emotional and religious.

The Bible says that the righteous of God live by faith, but that doesn’t break the connection that faith has with obedience.

You may have the faith to do great things, but it would still be the kind that doesn’t please God. Your testimony doesn’t make you righteous.

Obedience without faith means nothing. When these two elements come together, righteousness is born.

As David stated in the verse above, the righteous will never be forsaken and their descendants will never lack because God will provide for them.

Abraham is a perfect example of this. The Jewish are the richest and most influential people on the planet because Abraham was the first man to become righteous, seeing as he completely lived by faith and obedience. God didn’t forsake him and his descendants don’t lack a thing.

“And will not God give justice to His elect, who cry to Him day and night? Will He delay long over them? (Luke 18:7-ESV)

God does not choose the elect. No one is predestined to become righteous. The opportunity is given to all. You make yourself part of the elect of God by having the profile of one who is considered an elect—you are faithful and obedient to God. You may be righteous but you still have to do your part, as even the righteous experience injustices in their day-to-day life.

Sometimes you have injustices because you accept them, and God can do nothing if that is the case. He can only help those who cry out day and night!

The widow in Jesus’ parable (Luke 18:1-8) was at the judge’s door knocking and asking for justice every day. She was there until the judge couldn’t take it anymore. If you are suffering from any injustices, you won’t see justice for your case unless you seek it wholeheartedly.

“When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.” (Psalm 34:17)

God bless you.

It is truly great and now I've learnt that faith alone isn't enough, I have to obey what God says and act upon his word, I can't pray once and say God does not answer, I got to persevere and cry unto him Day and night

I this really caught my attention and helped me to understand more indepth of the combination of faith and obedience. In my case, I'm going to be honest. We know this or learnt it but we don't use it even took time to understand which would have help in so many scenarios. I learnt that Faith and obedience works hand in hand with each. You cant be one without the other. There's no point in being faithful or using your faith in mighty way if you aren't obedient to God's word, vice versa. This helped me to analyse myself within have I been both of these things and if I have what have I been doing to call God's attention on my injustices?
