Tithe is the first ten percent of all our income, which belongs to God. It is a very ancient practice kept by all those who feared God.
The very first time it appears in the Bible is in Genesis 14.18-20 when Abraham gave his tithe to Melchizedeck, King of Salem – a tenth of all the spoil he got when he overcame his enemies and rescued his nephew Lot.
The Scriptures say, "Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said: 'Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; and blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.' And he gave him a tithe of all."
It is also interesting to note that the last time the Bible mentions the tithe is right in its last book, in Revelation 14.4, when it refers to the redeemed as the "firstfruits to God and to the Lamb."
There is no specific day when bringing your tithe.
Normally, you should bring your tithe on your first visit to the church after setting it aside. If you have a tithe to bring near the day when we anoint the tithers (first Sunday of every month), then you can bring it on that day. Alternately, you can give it online.
