The Grade II listed building and national treasure that currently operates as a HelpCentre was built in 1914. As with any building that nears its 100th anniversary, The National is showing clear signs of its age and vast use needing urgent repair works. This started back in 2009 due to a leaking drainage underground that went undiscovered for years.
The UCKG’s Building and Maintenance Dept is currently finalising a number of works to make the first stage of Kilburn’s revamp ready and accessible for it’s inauguration at the end of May. Immediate works have been and are being done such as the structural works to the north east corner roof; repair and restoration of listed features that have suffered damage at various stages; redesigning of main hall to create new areas that will more efficiently accommodate the various community groups, seminars, events and daily services; replacement of down pipes that have aged and have become damaged; upgrade of mechanical systems for greater energy efficiency; redecoration of the façade and more!
The total estimated cost of Kilburn’s makeover for this first phase is an estimated £1 million. So far £486.524.00 has been spent on this urgent project.
Be part of this special project and help to raise the extra half a million needed to complete the works by speaking to your pastor or the fundrasing leader at your local branch.
