Break the Silence. End the Violence.

We Care, So We March

In one accord, they gathered in black apparel to raise awareness against an issue that quite too often remains unheard. Women all over the world, of all ages united forces to stand for women who have lost all confidence and strength to rise back up again. With a purpose to prohibit and protect women who have faced or are endangered to such violence, the Sisterhood organised an exclusive march on Saturday 26th November  at 10am, gathered with over 300 supporting and determined females to put an end to those suffering from the violence in silence.

The unexpected silent march stirred the curiosity of people on the street, who were surprised by the all-in-black troopers with faces covered in teardrop masks.

“Did someone die? Was someone hurt?” people whispered as the protesters marched on. What many people don’t realise is that 1 in 4 women are actually victims of domestic violence and to answer their questions directly ‘Yes’. There are those who have had their lives snatched away having not seen the signs beforehand in order to escape such trauma.

The march was followed by a heartfelt  live session on DKW show, featuring guest appearance from: Natalie Collins, representing Restored Relationships; Debbie Birkbeck from NIA Project and R.A.H.A.B representative, maria Constant who shared her struggles and her fight to escape a lifetime of abuse.

In addition to raising awareness about violence against women to the general public and surrounding communities, an advice clinic was set up with private one-to-one sessions and workshops for all participating women who had been affected by violence or were interested on the topic.

The DKW team and the Sisterhood managed to send the audience away with a brand-new perspective and useful literature to help identify and prohibit relationships that may lead to domestic violence.
