Missing the train

Last Saturday more than one hundred people took part in a prayer that forever marked a change in their love lives. The following day I was approached by a few who said they had never been able to speak to God about certain issues in their love lives like they had done the previous evening.

Many experienced healing in what was a deeply hurt, wounded and bleeding heart and are now more prepared to find true love and make it work. Praise be to God for all that He did that evening. Now allow me to ask: where were you?

You are single, suffering from loneliness, every relationship you’ve been involved in has failed, your heart is struggling to accept the fact that your love is never returned, you feel like you have an open wound inside and need healing sooner rather than later; but you were not there. Perhaps you are divorced. Not long ago you were involved with a person that wasn’t right for you. You know it wasn’t right because you suffered a lot with the relationship, you ended up being a victim of verbal, emotional and even physical abuse, your heart still carries the hurt and is desperately in need of healing; but you were not there. How long will you accept this? How long will you keep on missing the opportunities that God gives you?

Imagine that I arrive late for work every day for no other reason than I keep missing the 8.30am train. What would you advise me to do? Wake up earlier, or get ready earlier in order to be at the train station on time, would you not? You would not tell me that I need another train, or that I should complain to the train operator. The train that would take me to work on time is at the station at 8.30am. I need to make sure that I am there to catch it.

If I don’t wake up early enough or if I allow other distractions to make me late, I’ll surely lose my job. But the truth is that I don’t need to because there is a train that can get me there on time. I just have to catch it— what could be simpler?!
