 Charles’s story
A failed long-term relationship left me longing for a woman who could really compliment me, someone who would really love me. I dreamed of having someone that I could talk to and relate with. However, I could not see anyone in my immediate surroundings that suited my taste.
When I came to the UCKG Helpcentre I was encouraged to plant a seed for my love life at Partners 4 Life Meetings, one that God would water and in faith that seed would blossom into not only a woman of God but a woman that suited me.
The meetings were invaluable. There, I not only learned about my role as the man in the relationship, I also learned about the spiritual aspect of dating and finding true love. I was given practical tips on how to wine and dine a lady as well as sound advice on the tell-tell signs that things won’t work out from the start.
Then I met Daisy.
We met up in one of the groups in the Church and we clicked from the get go. We started to talk to each other just briefly and the conversations would get longer day by day until eventually I realised that I could see a future with this lovely lady. She was so easy to be around and I just enjoyed spending time with her. I consulted a man of God for advice and he prayed with us, gave us the go-ahead and we began courting.
Daisy’s story
I was cheated on by my ex partner and he abandoned me with our son. I gave my all to him especially as he was my first serious partner but he betrayed me with other women and broke my trust. He dumped me without me even knowing it!
As a result, I decided that all men were dogs and so I would date them then leave them hanging when they thought that the relationship was getting serious. This was my way of taking revenge and I thought that this would make me feel better about what my ex had done to me. I was wrong.
At the UCKG HelpCentre, I learned that my love life was important and that I had to face that I had a broken heart and deal with it. The counselors there gave such emphasis to the love life and this made me realise that it was something that I needed to get right. I started my Chain of Prayer at the Partners 4 Life Meetings. Week after week I received prayers to heal me from past hurts and each time I attended I realised that I was less and less angry.

I was becoming excited about finding the right person for me. I was encouraged to ask God to provide that suitable partner that would love my son and me. I couldn’t see anyone that I liked but I was encouraged to paint a picture of the type of man I wanted in my mind and to couple that picture with faith that God could make it happen.
Then I met Charles.
Charles was everything I wanted in man and he was very charming. There was just one thing… He came from a country that my family had brought me up to stay away from. Traditionally, people from my country did not mix well with people from his. I was very concerned about this. But I was advised to take a closer look at his character and his heart before making my decision about him and that piece of advice worked. I was able to see far more to Charles than his country of birth. He was becoming my suitable partner and there I was worrying at a small detail!
In autumn of 2003 we were married. We live together, plan our lives together and we have a great future ahead. Today, we have established a family in the presence of God and we are enjoying marital bliss. We are an example of what you can achieve through perseverance. For each other, we were both worth waiting for!
