UCKG Youth Project
Course details: The project will work with a group of young people from Croydon supporting them to create and design a personalised logo or design which will be printed on a product, which will be produced for sale. They will do a series of fashion shows in order to market and sell their designs. From the profits of the shows they will be able to arrange an outing. So the better the outcome, the better the outing.
The course covers:
- Introducing Photoshop. Demonstrating what each feature does. Experimenting with Photoshop and exploring the different types of fonts, colours and styles.
- Research – (innovation, creativity) - Research already existing t-shirt labels via the Internet (a list of websites will be provided) to get ideas for signature and designs.
- Designing – Sketch 5 examples of ideas on a paper t-shirt template (to be provided) thinking of style and colour.
- In class – design these ideas in Photoshop and develop on them.
- Start to think about personal signature for t-shirts.
- Students are to choose one design to go to print.
- Entrepreneurship - Receive business advice from a community based business advisors who will provide information and training on setting up a business, funding and grants which are available.
A fashion show will be organised to market the designs at least two venues in London. The UCKG HelpCentre will give use of its venues. One original product will be funded by the project and students will then collect orders for their designs to sell and produce and turn around a profit.
