Training Centre awarded investors
The assessment report highlighted a number of key strengths including the enthusiasm and commitment of all staff to delivering training and their shared vision for the future of the Training Centre. The management were also praised for implementing training and development for its own staff to help their development. “The volunteers at the Training Centre are our greatest asset as this achievement shows,” explains Kim Powell, Training Centre manager. “By providing a stepping stone for those who are unemployed or have no qualifications, we are able to help people obtain appropriate qualifications, rebuild their confidence and achieve competence at work.” The Training Centre has attracted record numbers of students to its vocational training and job seeking services this year and preparations for opening further branches across London are currently underway. It has also introduced some exciting new developments and extended its course programme to offer even more services to those finding it hard to get into education and work. “The work of our training centre at our headquarters in Finsbury Park has been recognised as one of the top training centres within the Borough of Islington,” said Bishop Renato, head of UCKG branches in the UK. “In December 2004 the Mayor of Islington awarded our business advice unit for high quality and consistency. This new status highlights the UCKG Training Centre as an example of best practice for others to follow, and assures clients they can expect a reliable, quality service.” Popular courses at the Training Centre include computer literacy, English for speakers of other languages and business development courses, as well as careers help and advice. Places are now available for new morning and afternoon classes.
