This however is not the first time that the church has been closed due to rumours. In a previous incident a high court ruled in favour of the Church having found no wrong-doing on its part and consequently ordered it to be reopened. In light of this current incident, solicitors have once again been appointed to prove the UCKG's innocence and to enable it to reopen as soon as possible. “The church in Africa and the rest of the world is extending its solidarity to Zambia and have joined us in prayer,” said Bishop Renato. “The UCKG enjoys good relationships with governments all over the world. In Namibia for example, a government official said that he has nothing against the church despite the rumours.” This government official told The Namibian newspaper, “We have never received any complaints whatsoever from anyone about the activities of the Universal Church in Namibia.” When asked by reporters whether the UCKG still intends to go ahead with the opening of the new cathedral which will house many beneficial projects such as the training centre which works to equip members of the community with professional skills as well as providing them with support to improve career opportunities, Bishop Renato replied, “Yes we do intend to go ahead. We strongly believe that justice shall prevail as the allegations against us are not true.”
