Open Day at UCKG's Finsbury Park Training Centre

The Training Centre at the UCKG HelpCentre in the Rainbow Theatre, Finsbury Park is holding an Open Day on Monday 15 May. The aim is to showcase the range of training courses, business support, and advice and careers guidance services that are provided for the local community.

Open to the public as well as invited guests, the event runs from 10.00 am until 3.00 pm, with the main presentation at 1.00 pm. Those attending will be able to learn about new and exciting developments at the Training Centre as well as the normal programme of courses, and there will be opportunities for informal discussion with members of the centre's staff.

“Our main focus is to provide vocational training and related support services for local residents,” said Mrs Kim Powell, the Training Centre manager. “We're especially committed to helping people who are at the greatest risk of exclusion from the labour market and enabling them to compete effectively for good jobs.”

“The people we support include long-term unemployed, women returners, lone parents, and unachieved school leavers,” she added. The centre also helps those who lack work skills or confidence, people whose first language is not English, members of ethnic minorities, and ex offenders without job skills.

The courses and support services offered includes English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Computer Literacy and Information Technology (CLAIT), Skills for Life, and employability training. All training is accredited and free of charge to all eligible applicants.

UCKG provides a free crèche for trainees in need of childcare provision. In addition they can benefit from an extensive support system that encompasses everything from information on benefits, to help with CV preparation, job searches and guidance on handling interviews.

The Training Centre provides support for individuals wishing to start their own businesses. It is also a recognised UK Online Centre offering Internet access to local and national government services.

UCKG is a global Pentecostal church with thriving branches across London and the south east that endeavours to engage strongly with the communities surrounding its churches. Training Centre provision is offered equally to all comers irrespective of their religious beliefs and affiliations.
