Lord Mayor opens UCKG’s Nottingham HelpCentre
Released: 10.10.08

The Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Councillor Gul Nawaz Khan formally opened the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God’s (UCKG) new HelpCentre at 11 Thurland Street, Nottingham last week.

Pastor Paul Hill hosted the event, helped by Pastor Ricardo Silva who is responsible for the work in Nottingham and Asheto Scott, the UCKG’s press officer.

In welcoming the Lord Mayor and distinguished guests, Pastor Paul said: “We are opening this new HelpCentre in response to demand from local people who regularly travelled to Birmingham to access the full range of UCKG services. Secondly, Nottingham has its problems, like other cities. We are keen to help in tackling them constructively.”

For some years past UCKG has run a weekly Special Work in Nottingham, providing Sunday prayer services. “The venue in George Street became too small for the number of people attending. We were unable to provide all the support they needed from the limited resources of a Special Work, so we had no choice but expand,” Pastor Paul added. “Thanks to the commitment of church members we have been able to convert our vision for Nottingham into reality.”

Responding, the Lord Mayor, Councillor Gul Nawaz Khan, thanked Pastor Paul and his team for a very warm welcome and the opportunity to hear about UCKG’s plans for helping local people.
