World’s youngest US billionaire

Ever heard of Facebook? Of course you have. It’s only the hugely successful social networking website.

What might surprise you however is that the young man who created site is only 23 years old. In fact he was only 20 when he first launched Facebook from his Harvard dorm room in February 2004 because he wanted to stay in touch with friends he had made at Harvard.

It’s said that he wrote the original code for the site in less than two weeks. It quickly became a success at Harvard and more than two-thirds of the school's students signed up in the first two weeks. Zuckerberg then decided to spread Facebook to other schools and enlisted the help of roommate Dustin Moskovitz. By the beginning of the summer, Zuckerberg and Moskovitz had released Facebook at almost 30 schools.

This has now made him $1.5billion (£755million). He is so rich that he has been named the 785th wealthiest person in the world by Forbes Magazine. “He is the youngest self-made billionaire in human history.” the magazine’s editor-in-chief Steve Forbes said.
