UCKG will soon open in Sweden
“From working in the UK, I came to understand what the Lord Jesus meant when he said: ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature,’ the pastor quoted. “I saw that people suffer tremendously in the First World, and that the enemy works both in the lives of the poor and of the rich.” Pastor James and his wife Helena will be going to open a UCKG HelpCentre in Sweden. Sweden is the fifth largest country in Europe. It is famous for it’s large multinational corporations like Scania, Ericsson and Volvo and the standard of life there is considered as high. So one would wonder, why open a UCKG HelpCentre there? “Well, all is not what it seems,” says Pastor James. “The financial and entrepreneurial success of the country does not mean that the people are not in desperate need of help. And this is proven by the large number of calls we have received recently from Sweden requesting a church to open in this country as soon as possible.” Surely the sights of Sweden must have been breathtaking, the cityscape, the countryside and the landscapes… one can just imagine. But this is not what caught Pastor James’s attention; he was more drawn to the different yet similar lives the people of Sweden had. The families that were well off in terms of money, struggled with inner problems like depression. While those who barely earned enough to get by, were faced with the strain it caused on their families and marriages. Whichever way you look at it, both groups of people need help. Just like England, Sweden has a number of immigrants, mostly from other parts of Europe. But it is no surprise to know that the church in Sweden will cater for everyone, “The UCKG has always used common ground to reach people, regardless of their beliefs: their problems. Once a person sees that by using their faith a transformation of life will occur, a sincere desire to get to know the One who took them out of pain and suffering when nobody else cared will be born in their heart." Pastor James finishes off the interview by explaining what we can do the help the Work of God in Sweden: “Our members in the UK can help in three ways: 2. If you know someone who lives in Sweden, let them know that the UCKG is now opening its doors there, and pass their details on to our helpline here in the UK and we will contact them. 3. This is a crucial time for members to help with their offerings, as the church in Sweden will initially need financial support until it is able to fend for itself.”
