UCKG seniors gets cultural
The delightful afternoon event opened with a prayer by Pastor Eric, who is the overseer of the Seniors Group. The seniors were then invited to try something new as they tucked into the delicacies from different cultures. Dressed in his national attire, Pastor Joshua joined the seniors in prayer and then passed a special message reminding them that ‘though we are from different cultures, we are one in Christ Jesus’ and that we should see Christ in one another rather than focus on cultural differences. After the message, the seniors enjoyed a special performance as, Seniors Group member, Mr Jegede entertained them with a Nigerian poem. It wasn’t long before he had the happy crowd in stitches as he invited them to join in and sing along to a Nigerian chorus to compliment the poem. As if this was not enough, the South Africans took to the stage, to perform and teach everybody some South African moves. Were the seniors up for the challenge? You bet they were! The group took to the floor enjoying themselves as they danced along to the music. The day was so enjoyable that the seniors didn’t want to leave. At the UCKG, we believe older people should not be isolated or neglected. They should live with dignity as valued, respected and involved members of society. That’s why we have our very own Seniors Group where older people meet weekly. Speak to the Seniors Group leader at your local branch for more information.
