The Rescue
This year has certainly seen more than its share of bad news in the media, for example, teenage deaths on the increase; and we are told about various types of crime that is simply horrendous. One can’t be blamed for thinking that moral values have gone through the window!
How many times have you thought, or heard people say,“Lock up all these criminals and throw away the key!” depending on their crime; some even insist on bringing back the death penalty.
Whilst the Rescue of Dignity Group (ROD) understand the strong feelings the effect of crime evokes; its experience teaches that no one is born a ‘criminal’; but rather at some stage in an individual’s life; a wrong decision was made.
One of the areas that the group channesl its efforts is in the consequence of such decisions and towards those who make them.
The ROD Group writes to and visits over 100 inmates and has had pleasure to announce that many of those receiving their letters have left prison and their life of crime.
“These people were happy to find that not everybody had given up on them,” said Assistant Charles who heads the ROD Group.“Whilst we don’t condone any form of crime, we do see the importance of helping to rehabilitate individuals so that after serving their time, they do not continue on that same path.”
The ROD Group will soon launch its first ever newsletter which is aimed at not only prisoners, but also for the family members and friends of those in prison. If you are an inmate or know someone in prison or are merely interested in the Rescue of Dignity of people; then feel free to fill out this form and send it to us.
If you have any views, concerns or questions that relate to prisons or issues affecting prisoners then you are also welcome to write in.
