David Piper, aged 58, is selling his two hotels, two Bentleys, collection of paintings and his title as a Lord of the Manor. He is selling the whole package as a single lot on eBay and hopes to get £4million but so far has been offered only £1,005.
David is selling up his businesses in Plymouth after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer and deciding to move to London for treatment.
He follows in the footsteps of Ian Usher, 45, a Brit who sold his life in Australia for £187,000 after the break-up of his five-year marriage. David believes the whole package was worth about £6million a year ago but fears falling property prices have knocked £2million off the value of his assets.
The twice divorced father-of-four says he is giving up his entire lifestyle to move closer to his children in London where he is being treated at the University College Hospital.
The eBay sale is due to end at 6.09am on Monday August 11 and if nobody comes up with an acceptable bid he will start selling his assets more conventionally.
He said: "I am hoping to sell my entire life and lifestyle to one buyer if they have the money. It is all there, the property, the brace of Bentleys, the paintings the businesses and the books.I had more than 1,000 replies from all around the world. One of my daughters helped me put everything on eBay but I will only go down that route if the right offer comes along. I am selling everything as a package but I am willing to talk to anyone about selling the title or the cars or the property. The hotels and the café are all closed at the moment because I am not well enough to run them and I am going backwards and forwards to London for treatment."
